Three People Accepted the Challenge--WILL YOU?

Mike Lapinski, Theresa Couch, and David Cessante accepted DTE Energy's Challenge Grant today at the OESA meeting! It was a great group, and we were happy to host the Young Leaders at the meeting today. We are off to a great start to raise overhead funds for our organization through DTE Energy's Challenge Grant!

We have FINALLY made it to the official start date of the long-awaited CHALLENGE GRANT.

What is the Challenge Grant? The Challenge Grant is an initiative started by DTE Energy to raise overhead funds for DHDC. DTE Energy has committed to match up to $16,000 in donations for DHDC.

The Young Leaders of the Original Equipment Suppliers Association will be having a meeting at DHDC today--maybe some of them will accept the Challenge to raise money for DHDC!

The Inn at St. John's Donated a One-Night Stay!

Detroit Tigers Fans Raise Money for DHDC!

DHDC supporter Linzie Venegas invited a group of dynamic and professional women to a Tiger's game last week. As a precursor of what is to come for the Dream Makers' Gala, Linzie announced that she would be raffling a pink Tiger's hat in exchange for a business card and a small donation that would be matched by an unknown supporter. I know who she was talking about, and so did she. YOU might not know, but you will find out soon in this exciting new development for the Dream Makers' Gala! Stay tuned for the unveiling of this development!

Who We Serve: A Brief Look at Our Clients

DHDC provides services to people primarily from Southwest Detroit. Our services reach over 5,000 parents, youth, and community members.

According to Data Driven Detroit (http://datadrivendetroit.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/SW-Detroit-Neighborhoods.pdf), the Latino population accounts for the majority of the population at 57.2%, with African Americans accounting for 23.6 %, Whites accounting for 16.9%, multi-racials accounting for 1.5 %, and 0.7% accounting for Native Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders, and Other, non-specified races.
